A DSG dual-clutch or direct-shift transmission is a closed unit that basically contains two separate gearboxes and two clutches (hence the name). One of the gearboxes is responsible for shifting uneven gears (1,3,5..), while the other gearbox shifts the even gears (2,4,6…).
