The Honda Rebel 500 is a great starter bike for any beginner rider. It is easy to ride and looks uniquely good. There are only a few other cruiser-style motorcycles on the market that can compete with the Rebel 500 in terms of style, and none of them are as affordable.

Mostly it would be for commuting roughly 25mi to/from work in mixed traffic mostly on surface streets. Looking at the Rebel 250 because it's cheap and gets decent mileage, seems like a good starter bike and then once I'm experienced I'd get a Victory Vegas or Cross Country. Just don't want to spend $10k+ on a bike that I might lay down first

Rebel 250: at this point unless you are getting a good deal on it, you can skip it. The 300/500 is a better bike that’ll give you fewer issue and therefore more miles in the wind.
