Gear stick needs extra pressure on the lift up and down to get into reverse. If changing from 5th down, the gear stick like in other gears doesnt return to the kind off neutral point without an extra pull to the left and down extra. Not massive force but cant see whats worn out etc, without dismantling.

A two-wire plug is pushed on the spade terminals on the switch body. Remove the electrical plug, and unscrew the switch body, and set it aside, while you use this hole for sucking out the oil. Obviously, the 'box needs to be NOT in reverse. All these features are on the forward face of the gearbox, below the battery.

I changed the drive shaft oil seal earlier on today, after I took it for a drive I checked and more had appeared. Looks like it’s coming from the black box with the gear selector Hi Guys, so i was pulling out, moving from first gear to second gear (MK8 Fiesta ST) when I heard a ping noise from my gear stick. My initial thought was that i missed a gear but id didn't feel like i did. However, now putting the car into gear seem to be a bit sloppy and when in gear the gear stick has excessive movement up and down.
Similar age and miles, 08/65k. Turns out a part of the gear linkage needed removed, cleaned, lubed, then put back together. Took around 30 minutes, quite a common problem it seems. Didn't require any replacement parts, just half an hour of time. Our mechanic suggested that the standard Ford approach is to replace the part, but it simply needs
